How Effective Is Q Switched Tattoo Removal Treatment

Date :06-Nov-2019

There are times when people want to have tattoos removed from their body. That is when they find themselves walled in by the popular notion that permanent tattoos cannot be removed.

Of course, it is a misconception! With laser tattoo removal it is possible to erase permanent tattoos.

Q Switched Laser Tattoo Removal

Laser tattoo removal is a common and an effective tattoo removal procedure existing today. A laser can produce the right wavelength of light to remove even dark, complex and bright tattoos.

Which are the four types of Q switched laser:

  • Q-switched ruby laser
  • Q-switched Nd: YAG (neodymium: yttrium aluminium garnet) laser
  • Q-switched alexandrite laser

The choice of laser type is based on several factors, such as the presumed absorption spectrum of the target, the desired depth of penetration of the light energy, the complexity, the colour of the target particle, and the laser’s wavelength and pulse duration.

Procedure:

  • Q switched laser is pulsed through the tattoo to allow intense light energy to enter the ink.
  • The energy is absorbed by the ink particles and they shatter into tiny fragments.
  • The shattered tattoo is then cleaned from the skin.

Advantages of Q switched laser removal:

  • Less scarring
  • Not much time consuming
  • Less risky
  • Very effective
  • Cost-effective
  • Over in a few sittings

Does the procedure cause any side effects?

  •  Hypopigmentation can last for three to six months.
  •  Hyperpigmentation can occur due to increased production of melanin in response to laser-    generated heat.
