Botox And Fillers

What are they?

Botox and Fillers are the most common and popular minimally invasive cosmetic procedures that are usually administered as injections by doctors. Botox freezes the muscles and helps minimize the lines and wrinkles caused by facial expressions and aging. Fillers contain substances that will add fullness to areas like the cheeks, lips, and around the mouth.

Botox

Botox is a purified form of the bacteria botulinum toxin, a naturally purified protein. It can temporarily relax the facial muscles that cause lines and wrinkles. Minimal and regulated amount of Botox is safe and has been used to correct wrinkles safely for decades.
When Botox is injected into a muscle, the nerve signal in that muscle is blocked, leading to temporary paralysis or frozen muscle. This restriction in movement of these selected muscles (in the face) will help helps soften, reduce, or even remove the wrinkles.
This procedure allows the patient to go back to their normal activities in no time. However, they might experience some slight bruising and swelling. This usually appears right after the treatment usually masked using makeup.

Procedure

The Botulinum toxin is injected into the muscles between the eyebrows and around the eyes, which will improve the look for most frown lines between the eyebrows and crow’s nest. As this treatment is used to soften the lines caused by facial expressions, it can also be varied to ensure natural results that can last for 3 to 6 months.
NOTE: This procedure is not recommended for the following:

  • Patients suffering from medical conditions like damaged nerves or muscle complaints
  • Pregnant or breastfeeding mothers

Fillers

The natural collagen and elastin fibers present in the skin will reduce, as we grow older. This is because the cells lose their ability to produce them naturally making the skin drier, thinner and less able to repair itself.
Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is found in abundance when young but its quantity diminishes, as we grow older. This leaves the skin prone to lines and wrinkles. These folds and wrinkles are lifted and smoothened using Fillers by adding volume subtly. This gives the patient a youthful and fresher look by rejuvenating the skin and reducing the lines and wrinkles. It also adds facial structure and restores the volume to the aging face that was lost.
NOTE: This treatment is not recommended for pregnant ladies and lactating mothers to avoid complications.

Procedure

The fillers are injected to the targetted area using a tiny needle. This procedure usually takes around half an hour. The results might last for nearly 6 – 18 months, depending on the filler used. This treatment is completely reversible. The patient might experience slight bruising or swelling right after the treatment usually at the site of injection. This usually lasts for less than a day and can be masked using makeup.
